Ordinations
The Rev. Lillian Barrett was Ordained by CMA on June 17, 2006 at Avalon Park
Community Church in Chicago.
The Rev. Melody Seaton was Ordained by CMA on June 11, 2006 as Associate
Pastor of Covenant UCC in South Holland.
The Rev. Ruth Harrison was Ordained by CMA on June 3, 2006 at Trinity
UCC in Chicago and will serve as Chaplain at St. Catherine's Hospital in East
Chicago, Indiana.
The Rev. Curryanne Hostetler was Ordained by CMA on April 23, 2006 at
First Congregational Church of LaGrange.
The Rev. Lynn Rosiejka was Ordained by CMA on February 12, 2006 at
St. Peter's UCC in Elmhurst.
The Rev. Jeanne Santucci Murawski was Ordained by CMA on December 11,
2005 at St. Paul UCC in Palatine.
The Rev. Edward Smith Davis was Ordained by CMA on September 11, 2005.
as Executive Pastor of God Can Ministries in Ford Heights, IL.
The Rev. Janet MacLean was Ordained by CMA on September 10, 2005,
and will continue to serve as a Chaplain for Advocate Health Care.
The Rev. Edith Greenlee was Ordained by CMA on July 16, 2005,
and will continue to serve as a Chaplain for Advocate Hospice Services.
Rev. Terrill Murff was ordained by CMA on October 17, 2004 as
Associate Pastor of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland,
Rev Carol Montgomery-Fate was ordained on May 16, 2004 at Pilgrim Congregational
Church in Oak Park, IL. She was also installed as Pilgrim's Associate Pastor.
Rev Michael G. Sykes was ordained on March 27, 2004 at Trinity United Church of Christ
and was installed as Associate Pastor for Visitation Ministries at Trinity.
Rev Susan Martersteck was ordained by CMA on Sunday, February 15, 2004
at the Congregational Church in Deerfield.
Rev Beverly Scott was ordained by CMA on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at
Trinity UCC in Chicago.
Rev. Alletta Ruth Jumper was ordained by CMA on December 6, 2003. She has been called by
Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago to be Pastor and Teacher as Coordinator for
Bereavement Volunteers.
Installations
The Rev. Jeanne Santucci Murawski was installed as Associate Pastor of
St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Elmhurst on July 9, 2006.
The Rev. Clare Overlander was installed by CMA as Pastor of Wellington
Avenue UCC in Chicago on April 30, 2006.
The Rev. Thom Bower was installed by CMA as Pastor of St Paul's UCC in
Franklin Park on March 5, 2006.
The Rev. Stephen Lucas was installed by CMA as Senior Minister of First
Congregational Church of LaGrange on February 19, 2006.
Rev. Dr. John D. Hobbs was installed as Pastor of the Church of the
Three Crosses in Chicago on December 11, 2005.
Rev. Dr. Elaine Eachus was installed as Associate Pastor of St. Peter’s United Church
of Christ in Elmhurst on June 26, 2005.
Rev. José Rosa was installed as Pastor of The First Congregational Church of Chicago
(Primera Iglesia Congregacional de Chicago) on December 12, 2004, following the
action of the CMA Association Council granting him Dual Standing in the UCC.
Rev. Julie Ruth Harley and Rev. Thom Parrott-Sheffer were installed
as Associate Pastors at the Union Church of Hinsdale in a joint service on November 21, 2004.
Rev William G. Ressl and Rev Penny L. Taylor, were installed as the new
Co-Pastors of Trinity Community Church UCC in Berwyn on September 26, 2004. Bill and
Penny were ordained by the Fox Valley Association on August 8, 2004.
Rev William Bordonaro, was installed as Pastor of Bethany UCC in Chicago
on January 25, 2004.
Rev Sally Iberg was installed as Associate Minister of Ministry and Mission
at Glenview Community Church on February 8, 2004.
Deaths
Norma Jean Sanders died on October 20, 2006. Mrs. Sanders was the wife
of Rev. Leroy Sanders, Pastor of Kenwood United Church of Christ, 4608 S. Greenwood
Av, Chicago 60653, Memorial Gifts may be sent to the Free Clinic at Kenwood UCC, in care
of the church.
The Rev. Bob Alward, former Senior Minister at Glenview Community Church,
died on April 20, 2006 in Naples, Florida. A memorial service was held at the
Glenview Church on May 20, 2006.
Rev. Gordon E. Robinson, Pastor Emeritus of St. Petri United Church of
Christ in Chicago, died on November 27, 2005 at Manor Care Health Center in
Oak Lawn after a lengthy illness. He served St. Petri for 27 years,
beginning on September 28, 1947, retiring in 1974. He was named Pastor
Emeritus on April 24, 1977.
A native of Wisconsin, he graduated from Mission House College and
Theological Seminary in Plymouth, WI, in 1938. He was ordained at the
Evangelical and Reformed Church in Watertown, WI, on June 26, 1938,
where he served as pastor for four years. Before coming to St. Petri,
he also served as pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church in
Bloomington, Illinois. Services were held on December 2, 2005.
Rev. Gary Rex Hodges died on August 31, 2005 at the age of 64. He had most recently
been Senior Pastor of St Peters UCC in Elmhurst.
The Rev. Gene M. Prostek died on October 1, 2004. Rev. Prostek was born in
1928 and ordained in 1952. He was a member of St Paul's UCC in Franklin Park
where he was Pastor Emeritus. Cards can be sent to his wife Delores Prostek,
303 E. Washington #337, Bensenville, IL 60106-3520.
The Rev. Donald S. Hobbs died on September 16, 2004 at the age of 90. He had been
ordained in 1941. Rev. Hobbs had served in many CMA churches and had retired from
active ministry in January 1983. His daughter Ellen Hall called us with this news.
The Rev. Roy Dorsey Meyer died on September 15, 2004 in Peoria, Illinois.
Rev. Meyer had served as Pastor of the First Congregational Church of
Berwyn for twenty years, retiring in 1988. He had been living in Peoria for the
last several years. He was born in 1921 and was ordained in 1950.
Rev John Hubner, died on April 12, 2004. He was former Interim Minister
and long time member of the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park and retired
Pastor of Edgebrook Community Church.
Ms Dorothy Bowers West died Thursday, January 06, 2005. She was a deacon and
minister in training at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and was In Care
with the Chicago Metropolitan Association UCC preparing for the ordained ministry.
Services were held January 13th at Trinity.
Ms Mary Frances Weathers was killed in an automobile accident in Virginia on
Saturday, December 18, 2004. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ
and was enrolled in Virginia Union Seminary. She had just been taken In Care by CMA
on December 9, 2004. Services were held on December 27th at Trinity.

New Calls and Changes of Position
The Rev. Wookbin Moh is the new Pastor at The Sam Il United Church of Christ
in Des Plaines. He started there on June 4, 2006.
The Rev. Ernie Beale, Pastor of The Peoples Church in Chicago, will complete
his service there on August 6, 2006.
The Rev. Janice Powell has been called to be the new pastor of Pilgrim
Congregational Church in Oak Park beginning July 2, 2006. She is a member of the New
York Conference of the UCC.
The Rev. Pamela Fox, will move to Dallas with her family on July 17, 2006.
The Rev. Jan Dykstra is now serving as Interim Pastor at St. Paul
Community Church in Homewood
Charlene Hill has joined the staff at Galewood UCC in Chicago
The Rev. Kerry Waller completed her service at St Peter's UCC in Chicago
The Rev. David Stewart has joined the staff of Kenwood UCC in Chicago
The Rev. Shawn Kafader has become Chaplain at Friendship Village of Schaumburg
The Rev. Genet Soule has become Associate Director of Development and
Alumni Relations at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago
Rev. Dan Dale will become the Interim Pastor of Good News Community
Church in Chicago on November 1, 2005. Rev Dale is an ordained minister in
the Disciples of Christ.
Rev. Clare Virginia Overlander began her service as pastor of Wellington

Rev. Markay Suevel has concluded her service as Associate Pastor at Park Ridge
Community Church.
Rev. Matthew Smucker has concluded his service at Chicago Theological Seminary
and now works at Urban Gateways in Chicago.
Rev. Genet Soule has concluded her service at Chicago Theological Seminary.
Rev. David Pattee has concluded his full time service at Chicago Theological
Seminary, but continues there as a consultant.
Hope Molozaiy has been called to be the new Associate Pastor at Northfield Community Church
David Ingram has been called to be the new Associate Pastor at First Congregational
Church of Western Springs.
Rev. Brynne Crowe concluded her service as Associate Pastor of First United
Church of Oak Park on September 30, 2004
Rev Margaret Wise concluded her service as Chaplain at St Pauls House in
Chicago and become Pastor of Zwingli United Church of Christ in East Berlin, Pennsylvania.
Rev Gina Sourelis concluded her service as Chaplain at Uhlich Children's Home
in Chicago in to order to complete her post graduate work.
Rev Pam Fox has concluded her service as Associate Pastor at Trinity UCC in
Chicago in order to return to graduate school.
Rev. Julie J. Kilmer concluded her service with the Niebuhr Center Ministry
Team at Elmhurst College in August 2004. She accepted a new teaching position at Miami University
in Oxford, Ohio, which will begin this Fall 2004.
Rev Denise Tracy has concluded her service as Pastor of the First Congregational
Church of Elmhurst.
Rev Julie Ruth Harley became Associate Pastor at Union Church of Hinsdale
beginning August 3, 2004. She comes from Lockport, Illinois, and currently has
standing in the Eastern Association of the Illinois Conference.
Rev Joel Tolliver has resigned as Associate Pastor of the Congregational
Church of Park Manor in Chicago effective June 1, 2004. He has accepted a call
as Pastor of Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev Elaine Eachus has been called to be one of the new associate pastors
at St Peter's Church in Elmhurst.
Rev Denise Griebler has announced that she will be concluding her service as
Pastor of St Paul's United Church of Christ in Franklin Park on June 13, 2004.
Rev Thom Parrott-Sheffer concluded his service as Pastor of Salem UCC
in Oak Lawn on May 2, 2004. He has accepted a call as Associate Pastor of
Christian Formation and Mission at the Union Church of Hinsdale beginning June 1, 2004.
Rev John Hobbs became part-time Interim Pastor at The Church of the Three
Crosses in Chicago in May 2, 2004. He continues to be Executive Director of the
Interfaith Council for the Homeless.
Rev Shawn Kafader became the Interim Pastor of The First Congregational
Church of LaGrange on May 1, 2004.
Rev Dawn Chesser concluded her service at The Church of the Three Crosses in Chicago
on March 1, 2004, and has taken a new assignment in the United Methodist Church.
Rev. Brenda Barnes-Jamieson concluded her service at Pilgrim Congregational
Church of Oak Park on December 31, 2003.
Rev. David Russell is now an interim pastor at Grayslake UCC in Fox Valley Association
Rev Luther Holland, Jr, Pastor of The Congregational Church of Park Manor in
Chicago, was married on February 14, 2004 to Zelda Y. Vaughn in Burlington,
North Carolina. Ms Vaughn, who has worked at the University of North Carolina in
Greensboro, is moving to Chicago.
Rev Delores Rogers completed her service at Northfield Community Church UCC
on December 31, 2003. She is an ordained Presbyterian minister who had Dual Standing in CMA.
Rev Barbara Cathey completed her service at Union Church of Hinsdale on
January 31, 2004. She is an ordained Presbyterian minister as has accepted a position
at Edgewater Presbyterian Church in Chicago.
Rev Duane Hoffman, a UCC Pastor from Indiana, has been called to be the new
pastor of Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church UCC in Chicago beginning February 1, 2004
Rev Douglas Nielsen, completed his service as Pastor of The First Congregational
Church of LaGrange on February 22, 2004. He will be Pastor of The First Parish
Congregational United Church of Christ of Saco, Maine, effective March 8, 2004.
Rev Peter McQueen, Pastor of Ravenswood UCC in Chicago will leave that position
effective March 15, 2004 to become Interim Pastor of St John UCC in Palatine on March 21, 2004.
Rev Francis Avila has been called to be the new pastor of Prospect Heights
Community Church beginning February 15, 2004
Changes in Standing
Gregory Sabetta was licensed by CMA to be Interim Pastor of St. Mark UCC
in Chicago Heights.
The Rev. Wanda Washington has transferred her standing to the Wisconsin
Conference of the UCC effective June 1, 2006.
Rev. Robert Eaddy was granted a transfer of standing on June 21, 2004 to CMA
from the New Orleans Association as staff chaplain at Advocate Christ Hospital.
Rev Margaret J Wise transferred her standing from CMA to the Gettysburg
Association of Penn Central Conf UCC on September 15, 2004.
Rev Deborah S Jarvis transferred her standing from CMA to Fox Valley Association
of the Illinois Conference on September 9, 2004.
Rev Hank Fairman transferred his standing from CMA to the Southwest Association
of the UCC Michigan Conference on April 2, 2004.
Rev. Matthew Smucker, was granted standing in CMA on Febraury 16, 2004,
as Director of Development Operations at Chicago Theological Seminary, pursuant
to a Four Way Covenant with Epiphany UCC in Chicago.
Rev Andrew Bachmann transferred his UCC standing to the Florida Conference
on January 15, 2004, where he is Associate Pastor of the United Church of Gainesville.
Rev Patricia Ann Stirling transferred her UCC standing to the Covenant Association
of the Michigan Conference on January 14, 2004.
Retirements
The Rev. Steve Hanning, Pastor of Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest,
retired from the ministry in June 2006 and has moved with his family to Seattle.
The Rev. Elaine Eachus, Associate Pastor of St Peter's UCC in Elmhurst,
retired May 7, 2006.
Rev. James Berry has retired as Associate Pastor of First Congregational
Church of Western Springs
Rev Einar Greenholt, former Pastor of Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church, is now
retired and living in Lincoln, Nebraska. He called to tell us that he has been serving
as a Supply Pastor for Plymouth Congregational UCC in Crete, Nebraska.
Churches
St. John United Church of Christ in Palatine voted on November 2, 2003 to transfer its
association membership from CMA to the Fox Valley Association of the Illinois Conference. The
change became effective on May 1, 2004.
Sauk Village United Church of Christ in Cluster 5 voted to transfer its association
membership from CMA to the Eastern Association of the Illinois Conference. The change became
effective on February 14, 2004 following an action by the Illinois Conference Council.
