Procedures for Pastors moving between calls within the Chicago Metropolitan Association were adopted April 10, 2003 by the Sub-Committee on Standing of the CMA Church and Ministry Committee. To review the procedure and other policies about standing, visit our Resources Page.

Retirements

  • The Rev. Ann Marie Coleman and The Rev. Donald Coleman retired as Co-Pastors of University Church in Chicago on March 23, 2008.

  • The Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Alfred, Pastor of Immanuel Church of Evergreen Park, has retired.

  • Dr. Bryant Cureton retired as President of Elmhurst College after 14 years of leadership on May 18, 2008.

  • The Rev. Steve Hanning, Pastor of Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest, retired from the ministry in June 2006 and has moved with his family to Seattle.

  • The Rev. Elaine Eachus, Associate Pastor of St Peter's UCC in Elmhurst, retired May 7, 2006.

  • Rev. James Berry has retired as Associate Pastor of First Congregational Church of Western Springs

  • Rev Einar Greenholt, Pastor Emeritus of Eden UCC in Chicago, is now retired and living in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has been serving as a Supply Pastor for Plymouth Congregational UCC in Crete, Nebraska.


    Homegoing

  • Rev. James Blakely Benn: October 31, 1948 - May 13, 2009.

    The Rev. James Blakely Benn died on May 13, 2009 after a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer as he continued to faithfully serve Eden United Church of Christ in Chicago. Jim pastored Eden UCC beginning in 2007 after a successful career of community organizing.

    Cards and notes may be sent to his wife Julia Mayer, 5049 W. Gunnison Street, Chicago 60630-2310. Jim is also survived by his nine year old son Micah. We ask that you keep them both in your thoughts and prayers during the difficult days ahead. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Micah Benn Scholarship Fund and mailed to Julia Mayer.

  • Rev. Ruben L. Mendoza, retired, of Bensenville, IL, passed away on April 16, 2009. Services were held at the Philippine American Ecumenical Church in Chicago.

  • Sharon M. Sancken, a long time member of Westchester Community Church, and a member of the CMA Church & Ministry Committee, died of cancer April 8, 2009 in Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Sharon spent much of her life caring for the most critically ill as head nurse in the medical intensive-care unit and later the emergency department at Hines VA Hospital near Maywood. Services were held at Westchester Community Church on April 14, 2009.

  • Rev. Dr. Edward William Bergstraesser (1935 - 2009), Pastor Emeritus of First United Church of Oak Park, passed away on Ash Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Ed served as senior pastor at First United from 1980 to 2000.

    Ed received his undergraduate degree from Elmhurst College in 1956, a Master of Divinity in 1960 from Union Theological Seminary, and in 1969 a Doctor of Ministry from Oberlin School of Theology/Vanderbilt Divinity School. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Elmhurst College in 1991.

    Ed & his wife Carol remained in Oak Park after retirement, volunteering with Advocate Heath Care System, the Community Renewal Society of Chicago and Lifelink Corporation in Bensenville. Ed was an active member of the Elmhurst College Alumni Association and the National Church Associates of the UCC. He participated in the search for the new Elmhurst College President and most recently was actively engaged in providing input for the college’s strategic vision with regard to the relationship between Elmhurst College and the United Church of Christ.

  • Barbara Westbrooks Smith, wife of Rev. Dr. Ozzie E. Smith, Jr., Pastor of Covenant UCC in South Holland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2009, after a six and one-half year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

  • Christopher Cochran, husband of Rev. Leona Cochran of Trinity UCC in Chicago, passed away on September 28, 2008.

  • The Rev. Catherine Louise Price, Minister of Spiritual Life at First Congregational Church of Western Springs, died on September 22, 2008, at the age, of 45, following a three and one-half year battle with cancer. Catherine was an ordained Presbyterian Minister and had served First Congregational Church since 2004.

  • The Rev. Dr. Donald L. Benedict, died on September 4, 2008 in Vermont. He was born September 12, 1917 and graduated from Albion College and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He devoted his life to creating innovative initiatives in ministry. He and his wife, Ann Benedict, along with Rev. Archie Hargraves (former Pastor of South Shore Community Church) and Bill Webber (founder of New York Theological Seminary), established the East Harlem Protestant Parish. Don later was Director of Cleveland's Inner City Parish and Pastor of St. Paul's Community Church before coming to Chicago where he led the Community Renewal Society as Executive Director from 1960 to 1982. Don founded Protestants for the Common Good in 1995. Don and Ann Benedict made St. Pauls UCC in Chicago their church home.

  • Carolyn Fitch, a member of St. Mark UCC in Chicago Heights, lost her valiant fight with cancer on June 30, 2008. Her husband Don Fitch is In-Care with CMA.

  • The Rev. Joseph H. Evans, the UCC's third president, died on April 12, 2008 at his home in Sarasota, FL at the age of 92.

    Evans, the first and only African American to serve as UCC president, spent 17 years as an elected officer of the denomination. Elected in 1967 as national secretary, he was named president of the UCC in 1976 upon the sudden death of President Robert Moss.

    "Joe was a leading figure in the middle years of our denomination's life," said the Rev. John H. Thomas, UCC general minister and president. "Our work rests on the legacy of great leaders like him."

    Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Evans grew up in Chicago. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University, Yale University Divinity School and UCC-related Chicago Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1942.

    Evans served as associate general secretary for the Connecticut Council of Churches. He went on to lead Mount Zion Congregational UCC in Cleveland before returning to pastor his home church, Church of the Good Shepherd UCC in Chicago, where he also served a four-year term as president of the Chicago Urban League.

  • Brother Tyron Smith, a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, died on Easter Sunday morning, March 23, 2008, after a brief illness. His was a stalwart spirit of gentle voice and strong faith.

    Tyron was am active member of the CMA Church in Society Committee as well as our Nominating Committee, and had recently led two mission trips to New Orleans. He was also serving as a member of the LEEAP Committee and Outdoors Ministry Board for the Illinois Conference.

  • The Rev. Frederick W. Beyer died February 24, 2008.

  • The Rev. Calvin C. H. Bremer, Pastor Emeritus of Westchester Community Church, died in February 2008. Services were held on February 9, 2008 at Westchester.

  • The Rev. Kenneth B. Smith, Sr. died on January 21, 2008 at the age of 77. He had served as President of the Chicago Theological Seminary, Pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Pastor the Congregational Church of Park Manor, and Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

  • Nicholas Camcam died on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. He was the husband of Gloria Camcam, who is a member of Mont Clare UCC in Chicago and a long-time active lay member of many CMA and Illinois Conference committees.

  • Michael Seaton, husband of Rev. Melody Seaton of Covenant UCC in South Holland, went home to be with the Lord on January 11. 2008.

  • Anthony Hollins (1965-2007), a member of Trinity UCC in Chicago and a student In Care with CMA, passed away Sunday morning, November 25, 2007.

  • The Rev. Landis McAlpin (1929-2007), former Firefighter and Chaplain for the Chicago Fire Department and Associate Pastor for South Shore Community Church died on November 20, 2007. Rev. Mr. McAlpin was a graduate of the Chicago Theological Seminary and served in a number of Chicago churches either as a member of the pastoral staff or as an esteemed guest preacher. Services were held at Bryn Mawr Community Church in Chicago.

  • Mrs. Mary Louise Talton Smith, mother of CMA Moderator Harlette Smith Washington, passed away quietly in her sleep early Saturday morning, July 21, 2007 in North Carolina. The funeral was held on July 28 in New Orleans. Burial was in National Cemetary in Baton Rouge.

  • Curt Koehler, husband of The Rev. Denise Griebler, pastor of St. Michael's UCC in West Chicago, passed into eternal life on April 7, 2007.

  • Norma Jean Sanders died on October 20, 2006. Mrs. Sanders was the wife of The Rev. Leroy Sanders, Pastor of Kenwood UCC in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Bob Alward, former Senior Minister at Glenview Community Church, died on April 20, 2006 in Naples, Florida. A memorial service was held at the Glenview Church on May 20, 2006.

  • Rev. Gordon E. Robinson, Pastor Emeritus of St. Petri UCC in Chicago, died on November 27, 2005 at Manor Care Health Center in Oak Lawn after a lengthy illness. He served St. Petri for 27 years, beginning on September 28, 1947, retiring in 1974. He was named Pastor Emeritus on April 24, 1977.

  • Rev. Gary Rex Hodges died on August 31, 2005 at the age of 64. He had most recently been Senior Pastor of St Peters UCC in Elmhurst.

  • Ms Dorothy Bowers West died Thursday, January 06, 2005. She was a deacon and minister in training at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and was In Care with the Chicago Metropolitan Association UCC preparing for the ordained ministry. Services were held January 13th at Trinity.

  • Ms Mary Frances Weathers was killed in an automobile accident in Virginia on Saturday, December 18, 2004. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was enrolled in Virginia Union Seminary. She had just been taken In Care by CMA on December 9, 2004.

  • The Rev. Gene M. Prostek died on October 1, 2004. Rev. Prostek was born in 1928 and ordained in 1952. He was a member of St Paul's UCC in Franklin Park where he was Pastor Emeritus.

  • The Rev. Donald S. Hobbs died on September 16, 2004 at the age of 90. He had been ordained in 1941. Rev. Hobbs had served in many CMA churches and had retired from active ministry in January 1983. His daughter Ellen Hall called us with this news.

  • The Rev. Roy Dorsey Meyer died on September 15, 2004 in Peoria, Illinois. Rev. Meyer had served as Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Berwyn for twenty years, retiring in 1988. He was born in 1921 and was ordained in 1950.

  • Rev John Hubner died on April 12, 2004. He was former Interim Minister and long time member of the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park in Chicago and retired Pastor of Edgebrook Community Church in Chicago.


  • Ordinations

  • John Lionberger was approved for Ordination in the United Church of Christ by an Ecclesiastical Council held on March 29, 2009 by Cluster One on behalf of the Chicago Metropolitan Associaton.

  • The Rev. Roger Dart was Ordained by CMA on March 22, 2009 at The Congregational Church in Deerfield and was installed as Associate Pastor of that church.

  • The Rev. Nicolette Siragusa was Ordained by CMA on November 23, 2008, at First Congregational Church of Western Springs. Nicolette was called to be Pastor and Teacher of First Congregational UCC in Grand Ledge, Michigan.

  • The Rev. Ernest (Mike) Underhill was Ordained by CMA on October 28, 2008 at Epiphany UCC in Chicago. Mike was called to be Pastor of Nexus UCC in Hamilton, Ohio.

  • The Rev. Jason Coulter was Ordained on October 5, 2008 by the Southeast Association of the Wisconsin Conference of the United Church of Christ at Salem UCC in Town of Wayne, Wisconsin. Jason was called to be the Pastor of Ravenswood UCC in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Yoruba Siddiq was Ordained by CMA on September 28, 2008 at Kenwood UCC in Chicago. Yoruba was called to be an Associate Pastor at Kenwood UCC.

  • The Rev. Mary Beth Moran Cross was Ordained on September 27, 2008 by the Nebraska Conference of the United Church of Christ at Northfield Community Church UCC, Northfield, IL. Mary Beth was In Care with CMA as a member of Northfield Community Church before receiving a call and moving to Nebraska.

  • The Rev. Malcolm Griffith was Ordained by CMA on August 17, 2008 at Covenant UCC in South Holland and was installed as Associate Pastor for Covenant. He also serves as Pastoral Services Manager at The Night Ministry in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Rob Leveridge was Ordained by CMA on June 14, 2008, at Galewood Community Church UCC in Chicago. Rob was called by Chicago Theological Seminary to be their Minister for Seminary Relations.

  • The Rev. Dr. Herry Mukdani was Ordained on May 25, 2008 by CMA at the United Church of Hyde Park in Chicago. Dr. Mukdani had been called by Universitas Ma Chung in Jawa, Timur, Indonesia to join the faculty there. Herry has a Ph.D in theology from Chicago Theological Seminary.

  • The Rev. Andrea Lasticly was Ordained by CMA on March 9, 2008 at Church of the Good Shepherd in Chicago. She was called to serve as Associate Pastor of Covenant UCC in South Holland.

  • The Rev. Reginald W. Williams, Jr. was Ordained by CMA on January 4, 2008 at Trinity UCC in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Janice Buchanan was Ordained by CMA on November 11, 2007 at Epiphany UCC in Chicago. Janice was called as Chaplain of Black Mountain Center in Black Mountain, North Carolina (near Asheville) where she has been serving for the last three years.

  • The Rev. Derek White was Ordained by CMA on September 2, 2007 at St. Paul Community Church in Homewood, IL.

  • The Rev. Dr. Delores Johnson was Ordained by CMA on July 21, 2007 at Trinity UCC in Chicago. Rev. Johnson is a Chaplain in a VA Hospital and is Executive Director of Women Empowered, a not-for-profit outreach community organization ministry in Chicago that assists women and children living in and out of homeless shelters.

  • The Rev. Paul Robeson Ford was Ordained by CMA on June 10, 2007 at Covenant UCC in South Holland. Paul was called to be Associate Pastor at Covenant.

  • The Rev. Brenda Lee Kitchka was Ordained by CMA on March 11, 2007 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Arlington Heights.

  • The Rev. Mark Pedigo was Ordained by CMA on January 28, 2007 at Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC in Oak Park. Mark was called to be a Pastoral Counselor for Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center in Naperville

  • The Rev. Lillian Barrett was Ordained by CMA on June 17, 2006 at Avalon Park Community Church in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Alexander Sharp was Ordained by CMA on January 21, 2007 at Hyde Park Union Church in Chicago. He was called to be the Executive Director of Protestants of the Common Good.

  • The Rev. Gretchen Steffenson was Ordained by CMA on January 14, 2007 at St. Pauls UCC in Chicago. She was called to be a chaplain at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Melody Seaton was Ordained by CMA on June 11, 2006 as Associate Pastor of Covenant UCC in South Holland.

  • The Rev. Ruth Harrison was Ordained by CMA on June 3, 2006 at Trinity UCC in Chicago and will serve as Chaplain at St. Catherine's Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana.

  • The Rev. Curryanne Hostetler was Ordained by CMA on April 23, 2006 at First Congregational Church of LaGrange.

  • The Rev. Lynn Rosiejka was Ordained by CMA on February 12, 2006 at St. Peter's UCC in Elmhurst.

  • The Rev. Jeanne Santucci Murawski was Ordained by CMA on December 11, 2005 at St. Paul UCC in Palatine.

  • The Rev. Edward Smith Davis was Ordained by CMA on September 11, 2005. as Executive Pastor of God Can Ministries in Ford Heights, IL.

  • The Rev. Janet MacLean was Ordained by CMA on September 10, 2005, and will continue to serve as a Chaplain for Advocate Health Care.

  • The Rev. Dr. Edith Greenlee was Ordained by CMA on July 16, 2005, and will continue to serve as a Chaplain for Advocate Hospice Services.

  • The Rev. Terrill Murff was ordained by CMA on October 17, 2004 as Associate Pastor of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland,

  • The Rev. Carol Montgomery-Fate was ordained on May 16, 2004 at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Oak Park, IL. She was also installed as Pilgrim's Associate Pastor.

  • The Rev. Michael G. Sykes was ordained on March 27, 2004 at Trinity United Church of Christ and was installed as Associate Pastor for Visitation Ministries at Trinity.

  • The Rev. Susan Martersteck was ordained by CMA on Sunday, February 15, 2004 at the Congregational Church in Deerfield.

  • The Rev. Beverly Scott was ordained by CMA on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Trinity UCC in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Alletta Ruth Jumper was ordained by CMA on December 6, 2003. She was called by Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago to be Pastor and Teacher as Coordinator for Bereavement Volunteers.


    Installations

  • Dr. S. Alan Ray was Inaugurated as the Thirteenth President of Elmhurst College on November 8, 2008 in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel on the Elmhurst Campus.

  • The Rev. Dr. Alice Hunt was Inaugurated as the Twelfth President of Chicago Theological Seminary on October 30, 2008 at Hyde Park Union Church in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Felix Hoover was installed as Pastor of Watson Park UCC in Chicago on March 1, 2009.

  • The Rev. Francois DuToit was installed as Pastor of the First Congregational UCC in Des Plaines on January 25, 2009. He began his pastorate there on May 1, 2008.

  • Nicole Urbach was installed by Park Ridge Community Church as its Associate Pastor on January 25, 2009. Nicole is In Care with CMA.

  • The Rev. Dr. Danielle Buhuro was installed as Associate Pastor of God Can Ministries in Ford Heights on January 11, 2009.

  • The Rev. Michael Sykes was installed as Pastor of Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest on November 30, 2008. He began his pastorate there on February 1, 2008.

  • The Rev. Dr. Julie R. Harley was installed as Lead Pastor of First United Church of Oak Park on November 30, 2008.

  • The Rev. Frank Rodgers was installed as Pastor of Epiphany UCC in Chicago on November 23, 2008.

  • The Rev. Shana Johnson and The Rev. Todd Bean were installed as Senior Co-Pastors of Peace Memorial United Church of Christ in Palos Park on November 16, 2008

  • The Rev. David Denoon was installed by First Congregational Church of Evanston as its Senior Minister on October 26, 2008.

  • The Rev. John Vertigan was Installed by CMA as Senior Pastor at St. Peter's UCC in Elmhurst on July 27, 2008.

  • The Rev. Charlene Hill was installed as Pastor of Good News Community Church in Chicago on April 20, 2008.

  • The Rev. Jean Darling was Installed by The Peoples Church of Chicago as their new Congregational Development Minister on April 13, 2008.

  • The Rev. Andrea Mason Lasticly was Installed as Associate Pastor of Covenant UCC in South Holland on April 13, 2008.

  • The Rev. Dan Dale was Installed as Pastor of Wellington Avenue UCC in Chicago on April 12, 2008. Dan was granted Ordained Ministerial Partnership Standing in CMA on November 8, 2007.

  • The Rev. Brenda Burney was Installed as the new Pastor of St. Paul-Good Shepherd Church in Park Forest on March 30, 2008.

  • The Rev. Edward Smith Davis was Installed as the new Pastor of St. Marks UCC in Chicago Heights on January 13, 2008

  • The Rev. Matthew J. Smucker was Installed by CMA as Chaplain at St. Pauls House on November 18, 2007. His official title is Director of Pastoral Services and Volunteers.

  • The Rev. Jeanne Santucci Murawski was installed as Associate Pastor of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Elmhurst on July 9, 2006.

  • The Rev. Dr. John D. Hobbs was installed as Pastor of the Church of the Three Crosses in Chicago on December 11, 2005.

  • The Rev. José Rosa was installed as Pastor of The First Congregational Church of Chicago (Primera Iglesia Congregacional de Chicago) on December 12, 2004, following the action of the CMA Association Council granting him Dual Standing in the UCC.

  • The Rev. Julie Ruth Harley and The Rev. Dr. Thom Parrott-Sheffer were installed as Associate Pastors at the Union Church of Hinsdale in a joint service on November 21, 2004.

  • The Rev. William G. Ressl and The Rev. Penny L. Taylor, were installed as the new Co-Pastors of Trinity Community Church UCC in Berwyn on September 26, 2004. Bill and Penny were ordained by the Fox Valley Association on August 8, 2004.

  • The Rev. William Bordonaro, was installed as Pastor of Bethany UCC in Chicago on January 25, 2004.

  • The Rev. Sally VerSchave Iberg was installed as Associate Minister of Ministry and Mission at Glenview Community Church on February 8, 2004.


  • Welcomes

  • The Rev. Dr. Rita Root became CMA's new Interim Association Co-Minister on April 1, 2008, replacing The Rev. Michael Denton, who had moved to Seattle to become Conference Minister of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the UCC. Rita will assume responsibility for churches in Clusters One, Three and Four.

  • The Rev. Mark Buck became Interim Pastor for Edgebrook Community Church in Chicago on March 3, 2008.

  • The Rev. George Hartzog III(UMC) was called by St. Paul Community Church in Homewood called to be their pastor beginning December 2, 2007.

  • The Rev. Janet Boyd was called by St. John's UCC in Evanston to be their Pastor.

  • The Rev. Gloria Hopewell began serving as the interim pastor at The Congregational Church of Jefferson Park in Chicago on October 15, 2007.

  • The Rev. David Stewart has joined the staff of Kenwood UCC in Chicago

  • The Rev. Genet Soule has become Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago




    Farewells

  • The Rev. Edward Goode resigned on March 13, 2009 as an Association Co-Minister of the Chicago Metropolitan Association. We acknowledge with sincere gratitude the many years of service in the United Church of Christ and his 11 years of ministry with us as a CMA Co-Minister in the Illinois Conference.

  • The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. retired after 36 years of pastoral ministry at Trinity United Church of Christ on March 2, 2008. He had been Senior Pastor at Trinity.

  • The Rev. Dean Kucera concluded his service as Pastor of Edgebrook Community Church in Chicago on February 27, 2008.

  • The Rev. Dr. Jane Fisler Hoffman was called to be the Interim Conference Minister of the California, Nevada Southern Conference of the UCC. Her last day as Illinois Conference Minister was December 31, 2007.

  • The Rev. Marilyn Pagán-Banks ended her role as Associate Pastor of Good News Community Church on December 30, 2007. She will remain as Executive Director of Good News Community Kitchen.

  • The Rev. Mike Denton was called to be the Conference Minister of The Pacific Northwest Conference (PNC) of the United Church of Christ beginning January 2, 2008. His last day as Association Co-Minister for CMA was December 21, 2007.

  • The Rev. Dr. Steve Angel resigned as Pastor of Watson Park Church effective April 6, 2008.

  • The Rev. Michelle McNamara resigned as Pastor of St. Paul UCC in Palatine in November 2007.

  • The Rev. Paige Wolfanger resigned her position at St Paul UCC in Palatine in March 2008.

  • The Rev. Pamela Fox, will move to Dallas with her family on July 17, 2006.

  • The Rev. Kerry Waller completed her service at St Peter's UCC in Chicago

  • The Rev. Markay Suevel has concluded her service as Associate Pastor at Park Ridge Community Church.

  • The Rev. David Pattee concluded his service at Chicago Theological Seminary and is now the Pastor of a UCC church in Kent, Ohio.

  • The Rev. Brynne Crowe concluded her service as Associate Pastor of First United Church of Oak Park on September 30, 2004

  • The Rev. Margaret Wise concluded her service as Chaplain at St Pauls House in Chicago and become Pastor of Zwingli United Church of Christ in East Berlin, Pennsylvania.

  • The Rev. Pam Fox has concluded her service as Associate Pastor at Trinity UCC in Chicago in order to return to graduate school.

  • The Rev. Julie J. Kilmer concluded her service with the Niebuhr Center Ministry Team at Elmhurst College in August 2004. She accepted a new teaching position at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, which will begin this Fall 2004.

  • The Rev. Denise Tracy has concluded her service as Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Elmhurst.

  • The Rev. Joel Tolliver concluded his service as Associate Pastor of the Congregational Church of Park Manor in Chicago effective June 1, 2004. He has accepted a call as Pastor of Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church.

  • The Rev. Denise Griebler concluded her service as Pastor of St Paul's UCC in Franklin Park on June 13, 2004.

  • The Rev. Brenda Barnes-Jamieson concluded her service at Pilgrim Congregational Church of Oak Park on December 31, 2003.

  • The Rev. Delores Rogers completed her service at Northfield Community Church UCC on December 31, 2003. She is an ordained Presbyterian minister who had Dual Standing in CMA.

  • The Rev. Barbara Cathey completed her service at Union Church of Hinsdale on January 31, 2004. She is an ordained Presbyterian minister as has accepted a position at Edgewater Presbyterian Church in Chicago.

  • The Rev. Douglas Nielsen, completed his service as Pastor of The First Congregational Church of LaGrange on February 22, 2004. He will be Pastor of The First Parish Congregational United Church of Christ of Saco, Maine, effective March 8, 2004.

  • The Rev. Peter McQueen, Pastor of Ravenswood UCC in Chicago will leave that position effective March 15, 2004 to become Pastor of St John UCC in Palatine on March 21, 2004.


    Changes in Standing

  • Gregory Sabetta was granted Licensed Ministerial Standing to serve Immanuel UCC in Evergreen Park as a sustaining minister (not an Interim position) on February 14, 2008.

  • The Rev. Wanda Washington has transferred her standing to the Wisconsin Conference of the UCC effective June 1, 2006.

  • The Rev. Margaret J Wise transferred her standing from CMA to the Gettysburg Association of Penn Central Conf UCC on September 15, 2004.

  • The Rev. Deborah S Jarvis transferred her standing from CMA to Fox Valley Association of the Illinois Conference on September 9, 2004.

  • The Rev. Hank Fairman transferred his standing from CMA to the Southwest Association of the UCC Michigan Conference on April 2, 2004.

  • The Rev. Andrew Bachmann transferred his UCC standing to the Florida Conference on January 15, 2004, where he is Associate Pastor of the United Church of Gainesville.

  • The Rev. Patricia Ann Stirling transferred her UCC standing to the Covenant Association of the Michigan Conference on January 14, 2004.

  • The Rev. Katherine Karch was granted transfer of standing to CMA from Fox Valley Association as Pastor of Edison Park Community Church in Chicago on June 14, 2007.

  • The Rev. Ruth Harrison was recommended for Ecclesiastical Endorsement as chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital on June 14, 2007.

  • Carol Shauf was granted Licensed Ministerial Standing on November 8, 2007 to serve at Harvard Family UCC in Oak Park.

  • The Rev. Sharon Ellis Davis was recommended for Renewal of Ecclesiastical Endorsement for a period of 5 years to continue service as Chicago Police chaplain on November 8, 2007.

  • The Rev. Victor Coriano of the Disciples of Christ was granted Ordained Ministerial Partnership Standing on December 13, 2007.

  • The Rev. Markay Suevel was granted Leave of Absence on December 13, 2007.

  • The Rev. Pamela Fox was granted Leave of Absence on December 13, 2007.

  • The Rev. Carol Munro Mosley was granted Renewal of Standing on January 10, 2008 for her work at the American Red Cross of Chicago under a four way covenant between herself, Trinity UCC in Deerfield, the American Red Cross and CMA.

  • The Rev. Wook Bin Moh was granted Ordained Ministerial Partnership Standing as Pastor of Sam Il UCC in Des Plaines on February 14, 2008. Rev Moh has standing with the Disciples of Christ.
